Under Construction

Penguin City Beer, Youngstown, OH

37,000 sf warehouse renovation

A Neider Architecture recently completed the design for the 37,000 sf Penguin City Brewery operations and office space. The design included 5,000 sf of office space for day-to-day operations, 10,000 sf of production and distribution brewing space, 12,000 sf of taproom and future restaurant space, and a 10,000 sf future banquet space.

The building is an early 1900's warehouse that will be converted to create the aesthetic and function that Penguin City needed for its new location. PenguinCity wanted to pay homage to the City of Youngstown’s rich steel mill history in its brand and, now, in the atmosphere of its new space.

The space will consist of the original steel building envelope while upgrading all systems to meet current building code. New glazing will be installed to maintain the existing historic window system yet make the building envelope secure. The office space will remain neutral and have views into the city from the large windows. By establishing this location, Penguin City will open its first taproom to the public since they opened in 2018 and with distribution sales to three states.

Silvers Building Renovation

The Silvers Building is situated in the central business district of Youngstown, OH, and its renovation will bring another historic building back to its former glory.

The building will house a mixed-use facility with ground floor retail tenants and upper-level luxury loft apartments overlooking the entertainment district. Leasing of both retail and apartment spaces will begin immediately and construction is expected to be completed by 2023.

Gallagher Building Renovation

Built in 1904, the Gallagher Building stands as one of the older buildings in downtown Youngstown. Although the building has sat vacant for nearly a decade, its walls tell its rich history with stories of everything from prohibition to serving the blue-collar workers of the great mills of Youngstown. The renovated facility will house a retail first floor and apartments on the upper levels overlooking the downtown and YSU campus, as it serves as a neighbor to both.
